About The Position

Vapi is seeking an Agent Engineer to join their team. Vapi provides a platform for deploying voice agents that understand business needs and can resolve issues efficiently. The company is expanding its focus on enterprise customers, requiring technical expertise in architecture, demos, and Proofs of Concepts (POCs). This role is crucial for demonstrating how Vapi integrates into production workflows such as IVR replacement, outbound dialing, agent-assisted support, and appointment scheduling. As one of the first Solutions Architects, this position will significantly influence Vapi's sales, demo, documentation, and customer onboarding processes for enterprise clients.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in a technical customer-facing role (e.g., pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, customer engineering).
  • Ability to write code for building working integrations, reading API responses, and debugging issues independently.
  • Experience with voice, telephony, or contact center infrastructure (e.g., SIP, Twilio, Genesys, Five9, or similar systems).
  • Comfortable communicating with both engineers and executives, adjusting the level of detail appropriately.
  • Enthusiasm for technical sales, including discovery, architecture, POCs, objection handling, and customer onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Learn Vapi's product, customer use cases, sales motion, and common technical objections within the first 30 days.
  • Shadow enterprise calls and gain understanding of Vapi's voice-agent architecture, telephony, LLM orchestration, integrations, and contact center workflows.
  • Own technical discovery and demos for active enterprise deals within 60 days.
  • Partner with Account Executives (AEs) on account strategy, build customer-specific demos, assist in designing POCs, and provide clear, honest answers to technical questions.
  • Lead the technical aspects of enterprise deals from initial contact through closing and go-live.
  • Create reusable artifacts for the team, document integration patterns and common objections.
  • Provide feedback on product gaps to engineering and product teams based on customer interactions.
