All assignments use 12-hour shifts and require 36–48 hours per week depending on the contract. Each contract is 13 weeks, with extensions available; 26 weeks is preferred. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Patient-to-nurse ratios depend on unit and acuity: Acute Care/Telemetry is 5:1 on days and nights; ICU-level patients are 2:1, while intermediate-level patients are 3–4:1, with mixed-acuity assignments subject to specified limits; Inpatient Psychiatric is up to 8:1 depending on acuity; and Emergency Department is up to 4:1 depending on acuity.
