About The Position

The Agency Instructor II will be responsible for delivering the course curriculum for the Explosives & Safety Program (ESP). This encompasses all aspects of ESP training to include but not limited to; classroom delivery of any topic in the curriculum, outdoor training, and any skills training required, i.e. searching, detonation, storage, transportation, and first aid. In addition to teaching in ESP, the Agency Instructor II will coordinate and schedule other instructors to assist in the delivery and will utilize their knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success ensuring overall effectiveness of course instruction. This position will be required to supervise and evaluate student performance as well as competently discuss ESP procedures and regulations, discuss and demonstrate proper location, excavation and disposal techniques of materials used in ESP, proper demolition procedures and apply all safety measures. The Agency Instructor II will use a variety of media to present course material and may assist with course curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner’s needs. This position reports to the Training Director.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five years of EOD experience.
  • Two years of adult education/and or training.
  • Senior EOD Technician Certificate or Master EOD Technician Certificate.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
  • Ability to travel in and outside the U.S.A.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field and three years of military EOD or Public Safety Bomb Tech experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and one year of military EOD or Public Safety Bomb Tech experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver course curriculum for the Explosives & Safety Program (ESP), including classroom, outdoor, and skills training (searching, detonation, storage, transportation, first aid).
  • Coordinate and schedule other instructors for training delivery.
  • Utilize knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success.
  • Supervise and evaluate student performance.
  • Competently discuss ESP procedures and regulations.
  • Discuss and demonstrate proper location, excavation, and disposal techniques of materials used in ESP.
  • Demonstrate proper demolition procedures.
  • Apply all safety measures.
  • Use a variety of media to present course material.
  • Assist with course curriculum content as needed.
  • Prepare demolition range and ensure all required classroom materials are available prior to class.
  • Arrive one hour before the course is scheduled to begin to ensure the room is set up and to greet arriving participants.
  • Follow approved curriculum course outlines and timelines.
  • Perform all course exercises as explained by the Instructor Guide.
  • Ensure all participants have achieved the terminal objectives of the course.
  • Note curriculum or slide deficiencies.
  • Note any improvements for After Action Meetings.
  • Attend hot wash post delivery.
  • Provide improvements for the training coordinator.
  • Make sound fiscal decisions in the planning and execution of course deliveries.
  • Submit pre and post travel paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Submit timesheets within the required time frame.
  • Complete all required TAMUS training within the requested due dates.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance as appropriate.
  • Comply with LAW/TEEX policies and ensure the safety and compliance of all team members.
  • Perform ready checks to ensure safety compliance in all courses.
  • Ensure all field activities are conducted using established safety protocols.
  • Review and update safety guidelines for all field activities.
  • Play an active role in the safety of staff and other team members.
  • Positively interact with TEEX customers and staff.
  • Maintain related physical ability to perform required job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
