About The Position

The NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) seeks a recent law school graduate interested in starting a career in equal employment opportunity. This qualified person will join the EEO and Fair Housing (FH) Investigations Unit at the Office of EEO, Fair Housing, and Access Services (EFAS). The investigator will report directly to the Senior Attorney Investigator at the EEO and FH Investigations Unit, with a dotted line to the Vice President of EFAS. This position requires strong writing, interviewing, and analytical skills, and the ability to work productively in a busy team setting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews of employees or residents, whether reporting an issue, a party to a case, or witness.
  • Intake employee complaints and maintain organized files in a case management system.
  • Assess employee complaints and determine appropriate action.
  • Perform internal investigations of EEO and fair housing complaints.
  • Conduct interviews of parties and witnesses.
  • Draft investigative finding reports.
  • Recommend training or make other referrals to mitigate EEO conflicts.
  • Conduct training as needed.
  • Participate in other special projects as needed.
  • Provide other support and guidance to employees and managers.
