About The Position
The Fertilizer Applicator position is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. The person in this role is responsible for operating custom application equipment to apply fertilizer and chemicals to customer fields safely, accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. This role also promotes the proper use of crop protection products and is considered safety-sensitive.
Requirements
- Ability to follow and interpret fertilizer and pesticide labels.
- Must currently have or ability to obtain Idaho Professional Applicators license with all applicable endorsements.
- Must have a Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and general public.
- Must be able to make appropriate decisions and execute them according to policy.
- Must maintain appropriate and expected levels of customer service throughout the location.
- Must have ability to determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
- Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Loading and mixing fertilizer and pesticide formulas.
- Performing all applications in a timely manner and on schedule.
- Maintaining application logs and other records as necessary.
- Reading field maps and global positioning devices.
- Working around and handling hazardous materials properly.
- Performing daily inspection of equipment and minor repairs as needed.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
