About The Position

Mustang Freightways is looking for a Full Time Afternoon Shunter, the successful candidate should be available to work Monday to Friday 1pm to 9:30pm. As a Shunter you will shunt trailers in and out of bay doors for a fast-paced cross dock.

Requirements

• Class 1 license or Class 5 with Q Endorsement required
• 2-5 years’ experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift
• Previous experience chaining up
• A general knowledge of the transportation industry
• Experience loading and unloading LTL trailers using a forklift
• Basic computer skills are required
• Strong command of the English language
• A positive attitude
• Overtime as required
• Must submit a 5 year commercial abstract with application

Nice To Haves

• Experience handling dangerous goods considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Shunting trailers in and out of bay doors
• Aiding drivers in hooking up sets
• Inspecting trailers before putting them into doors & all duties coinciding with pre/post trip inspections
• Complete pre/post-trip inspections of the shunt truck
• Loading and unloading 53-foot van trailers, or flat decks
• Sorting freight to be loaded
• Operating a forklift as needed
• Manual lifting, up to 50 lbs
• Chaining up the shunt truck as required
• Other duties as assigned
