About The Position

International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking Aftercare Interns & Fellows to support national staff with programming for a variety of casework types, including Human Trafficking, Bonded Labor, Child Sexual Assault, and Intimate Partner Violence, with the goal of restoration and rehabilitation for clients. These opportunities vary by session and office location. Depending on experience, roles may involve developing aftercare strategies, managing casework information, maintaining statistics, assisting in system development, conducting research on intervention impacts, building partnerships with aftercare providers, drafting best practices for rehabilitation and reintegration, traveling to meet clients and area leaders (client interaction may not be permitted in all offices), completing professional writing assignments like grant proposals and reports, and providing logistical or administrative assistance to Aftercare staff. Positions are available in various global offices, with a program duration of 12 months from June 2027 to May 2028.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (for Interns)
  • At least one prior professional internship experience or significant leadership experience in extracurricular, campus, volunteer, or community-based organizations (for Interns)

  • Fluency in Spanish required for Latin America offices
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) and/or at least three years of relevant experience (for Fellows)

  • Training or experience in trauma counseling preferred (for Fellows)

  • Candidate selection is based on technical competence, recruitment, selection and hiring criteria subject to assessing the candidate’s value congruence and thorough background, police clearance, and reference check processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the continued development of a comprehensive aftercare strategy for IJM in collaboration with IJM Global Aftercare and the Director of Aftercare.
  • Support casework information management and input case details into Casework Tracking Management System.
  • Maintain up-to-date statistics and information for the department.
  • Assist in the development of systems and processes for the respective Aftercare teams as needed.
  • Conduct research and impact assessments on how IJM Aftercare interventions affect IJM clients.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with aftercare providers, under the direction and guidance of the Director of Aftercare.
  • Draft best practices for rehabilitation and reintegration of IJM clients in collaboration with IJM Global Aftercare and the Director of Aftercare.
  • Travel with IJM staff to meet with IJM clients and work with area leaders (Please note: not every office will require or permit interns or fellows to have direct client interaction).
  • Complete professional writing assignments including grant proposals, program proposals, and program update reports.
  • Provide support, logistical and/or administrative assistance to IJM Aftercare staff, under the direction of the Director of Aftercare.
  • Other departmental support as needed.
