The Aftercare Assistant is an excellent position to begin your career in childcare, providing opportunity for growth and development. You’ll participate in important training including CPR/First Aid Training all while learning: Communication and customer services skills Managing and redirecting groups of children Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques Activity planning Safety awareness

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have Level II background clearance or the ability to obtain clearance upon employment offer.
  • Six (6) months of related experience.
  • Experience in children's play, arts and crafts and group activities.
  • Must have a valid CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or the ability to obtain these certifications within six (6) months.

  • Ability to communicate well with participants, parents, other staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, interpret and apply laws, ordinance, rules, regulations, and safety and health standards.
  • Ability to attend Child Abuse Awareness Training required.
  • Ability to change planned activities in a moment's notice.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their watch.
  • Escorts children using different forms of transportation (i.e., walking, bus).
  • Ensure all appropriate forms are completed by parent/guardian.
  • Ensure parents sign their children in and out with proper identification.
  • Understand all emergency procedures.
  • Plan crafts, activities, songs, story time and creative play for children.
  • Enforce health codes and good hygiene.
  • Everyone on duty will take his/her job seriously and perform it conscientiously.
  • Additional tasks as directed.
