A four-year degree from a state-accredited university/college and a minimum of 2 years in a related field. Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and supervise sports and fitness activities, including tournaments, games, challenges and special events. Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner. Required Skills/Knowledge for the After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (005) Position: Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas. Deliver fun and engaging programming for boys and girls, ages 6-18. Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating departmental staff. Supervise assigned staff members in all phases of their work. Recruit members to consistently participate in sports & fitness programming. Ensure members demonstrate new skills and sportsmanship. Develop instructional and competitive games, sports and various activities. Ensure thorough evaluation for all departmental programs and services. Initiate and maintain community contacts with families, schools and other organizations and institutions to enhance programs and services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (005) Position: Plan and create new and innovative programs that meet the needs of the community in keeping with the Club’s priority objectives, BGCA core programs and strategic plan. Develop curriculum as needed. Direct all Youth Sports and Fitness programs conducted at the Club. Conduct periodic evaluations of existing programs and develop improvement plans. Research community needs and recommend programming to address needs. Implement BGCA curriculum to all necessary programs. Monitor rooms and equipment for safety and purchase new equipment and program materials. Work with staff to ensure an emphasis on quality programming and services.
