About The Position
This position is responsible for supervising children, implementing activities, maintaining the classroom environment, ensuring children's safety, and establishing a positive environment for children and families. The role also involves providing transportation for children to and from activities, including after-school pick-up.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year experience teaching school-aged basic academics OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid State Driver's License.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- 45-hour DCF required school age training.
- Must recognize that The Salvation Army is a church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee to undermine its religious mission.
- Requires a level 2 background screening.
Responsibilities
- Assists, instructs, and evaluates children in academic areas where they are weak to improve their understanding and performance.
- Conducts individual and group tutoring sessions with students.
- Prepares reports documenting student progress and shares them with parents and others as necessary.
- Supervises children in the playground and plans outdoor activities.
- Plans and coordinates sports activities as well as arts and crafts.
