After School STEM instructor
About The Position
Mad Science is hiring! We are a team of STEM-loving folks who spend our days transforming laboratory science into fun, interactive learning experiences for youth from Pre-K to 6th grade. We believe in working smart and having a good time. We all wear many hats and we work collaboratively to get things done and ensure that our students and their families are thrilled by their learning experience. The job is different and exciting, involving teaching science workshops during the afternoon and/or weekends. We provide all supplies, equipment, and curriculum to teach easy, yet fun science classes. Most of our Jr. Scientists are in K-5th grade, and you'll teach basic science concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Requirements
- Flexible, creative, engaging and have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Love children, science, teaching and/or acting.
- Own/have regular access to a car.
- Thrive in environments where you get a lot of support but function with a great deal of autonomy.
- Excited by non-traditional work schedules because you love the gig economy!
- Not afraid to try new things and love variety.
Nice To Haves
- Say things like, "I got that." "I have an idea." "Let me take the lead on that." and "I handled that. What next?"
Responsibilities
- Drive to a school, daycare or park and rec.
- Lead a one hour exciting, immersive and interactive science lesson.
- Teach basic science concepts in a fun and engaging way.
