About The Position

Woodcraft Rangers is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as After-School Program Leaders (Club Leaders). This role involves guiding young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives through expanded learning programs. The organization has a long history of serving youth in the Los Angeles area and is committed to a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. They offer TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning, serving over 30,000 youth annually across various counties.

Requirements

  • Availability Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and youth.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Must successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings.
  • An Associate's Degree in Child Development or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring a fun and positive learning environment for participants.
  • Supporting clubs of approximately 20 children.
  • Fostering a safe and supportive environment for students, both physically and emotionally.
  • Promoting an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful culture that values diversity among participants, staff, and families.
  • Planning and leading fun, engaging, age-appropriate activities that support whole-child development, including social-emotional learning, skill building, self-confidence, and leadership.
  • Monitoring student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement in program activities.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with students, colleagues, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with fellow staff and supervisors to plan culminating events and activities that celebrate participants' achievements and accomplishments.
  • Requesting program materials in a timely manner to ensure availability and adherence to budget guidelines.
  • Complying with all safety procedures, emergency protocols, required trainings, and certification requirements.
  • Participating in off-site field trips as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate student attendance records and submitting them daily.
  • Attending required professional development and staff training sessions, totaling approximately 15 hours throughout the spring and scheduled across weekends and intersession days.
  • Working closely with the Site Coordinator and Program Manager to fulfill assigned responsibilities and support program goals.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
