About The Position

Cape Fear Academy, southeastern North Carolina’s premier PK3-12 independent school, is seeking energetic, personable, and responsible After-School Program Assistants for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a rewarding part-time job with a limited mid-day schedule, offering flexible scheduling options. Assistants will work under the direction of the program coordinator to create a safe, relaxed, and engaging environment for students in grades PK–8. The role involves building relationships with children, leading activities, and ensuring a safe and organized program.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Experience working with children (babysitting, camp counseling, daycare, or coaching).
• Passion for things like outdoor education, crafts, music, or sports.
• Energetic, reliable, and a great communicator.
• Comfortable standing/walking for most of your shift.
• Comfortable speaking respectfully to individual and groups of children, across a playground if needed.
• Occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or currently working toward one) is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, relaxed, and engaging environment for students in grades PK–8.
• Build great relationships with kids and model core values of respect, integrity, resilience, and accountability.
• Help run activities like sports, recreational games, arts & crafts, music, and skits.
• Supervise student groups.
• Help maintain clean and organized spaces.
• Ensure everyone has a blast safely.
