About The Position

St. Martin of Tours School in Gaithersburg Maryland is seeking an After School Program Assistant for the 2026-27 school year. This part-time role involves providing homework assistance, facilitating curriculum-driven learning activities, and supervising enrichment activities such as sports, games, arts, music, crafts, drama, and dance for students in the After School Program. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with children, be a positive role model, and possess strong organizational and leadership skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent demonstration of academic competency
• Must pass a criminal background check and 2 sets of fingerprints
• Possess a Valid Driver’s License/ID
• Minimum Age 18+ years old
• CPR and First Aid certification required
• Must meet state health requirements
• A combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrate the ability to assist in the planning and facilitation of activities in an after school program

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance
• Facilitate fun learning activities that are curriculum driven
• Supervise enrichment activities such as sports, games, arts, music, crafts, drama and dance
• Provide leadership and guidance for approximately 20-30 students
• Organize and manage a group of students with the ability to maintain a calm and quiet classroom to facilitate homework time
• Plan and implement recreation activities such as kickball, soccer, four square, basketball, steal the bacon, etc.
• Supervise children on playground and classrooms
• Treat children with dignity and respect, while helping to build self-esteem and confidence through one-on-one interaction
