About The Position

The After School Program Aide assists with the overall operation of the after-school program by tutoring and mentoring youth in grades K–8. The role helps create a positive, learning-focused environment and supports academic, recreational, meal-preparation, and other program activities. The position is temporary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to multitask and handle multiple job-related assignments.
• Ability to make decisions within the limits of authority.
• Ability to provide positive and effective conflict resolution with youth.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.
• Willingness to learn new software as needed.
• Complete Safe From Harm training and keep it current as needed.
• Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass The Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).

Nice To Haves

• Some college in a related field.
• One year of experience working with youth in a tutoring capacity.

Responsibilities

• Tutor youth in core academic subjects and assist with daily schoolwork and after-school program lessons.
• Lead and/or coordinate game-time activities for youth.
• Assist with other after-school activities.
• Create a positive environment conducive to learning.
• Assist with meal preparation for after-school youth attendees.
• Plan and/or coordinate age-appropriate indoor and outdoor recreational activities, weather permitting.
• Run the unpaid vendor list after the last check run of each month.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
