About The Position

This is a part-time position responsible for leading and facilitating the Girl Scout After School Leadership Program (ASLP) in an after-school setting. The ASLP Advisor creates a positive, engaging environment where youth can develop leadership skills through Girl Scout programming. This role requires strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills, along with a passion for working with youth.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness and ability to pass a background check.
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation and ability to commute to assigned school site.
  • Must become a registered adult member of Girl Scouts USA ($25 membership fee).
  • Energetic, trustworthy, and committed to the values of Girl Scouting.
  • Enjoy working with school-aged children.
  • Independent and innovative thinker and problem solver who thrives in a team environment, is willing to tackle new challenges, and is able to manage multiple assignments while meeting specific deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic understanding of youth development and age-appropriate practices.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, child development, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in childcare, youth education, or after-school programming.
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification.
  • Experience facilitating group activities or leading youth programs.
  • Ability to develop engaging lesson plans or activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Hawaiian culture and language.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and facilitating the Girl Scout After School Leadership Program (ASLP) in an after-school setting.
  • Creating a positive, engaging environment where youth can develop leadership skills through Girl Scout programming.
  • Arriving at least 15 minutes prior to each program session.
  • Planning and preparation for each program level (age group).
  • Attending a monthly all-staff meeting (approximately one hour).
  • Facilitating and concluding program activities.
