About The Position
We are seeking a passionate and engaging After School Instructor to teach Chess to 7th and 8th graders. This role involves leading weekly classes to foster strategic thinking and problem-solving skills through the game of chess. The program runs from September 15th to December 15th, with classes held every Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at our Lakewood, CA 90713 location.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Chess, including understanding of rules, strategies, and tactics.
- Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational or after-school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a classroom and engage students.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Must be available on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
- Must be available from September 15th to December 15th.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience teaching chess.
- Experience with curriculum development for youth programs.
- Knowledge of different chess openings, endgames, and tactical motifs.
Responsibilities
