After School Group Leader
About The Position
As an After School Group Leader with Kamaʻāina Kids, you’ll create a safe, positive place where elementary-age children can play, learn, explore, and connect. From outdoor games and STEM challenges to art projects and homework help, you’ll keep kids engaged while being a trusted, encouraging adult in their day. This role offers a part-time schedule, Monday-Friday afternoons, with most shifts from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM, and Wednesdays starting around 12:30 PM. There are no evenings or weekends required. This schedule is ideal for college students, aspiring teachers, coaches, retirees, parents returning to work, or anyone seeking rewarding part-time work. Kamaʻāina Kids is Hawai‘i’s largest locally owned nonprofit childcare provider, recognized as a Top Workplace for five years running, with a mission to enrich the lives of children and families through quality education and care.
Requirements
- Energetic and enjoy working with elementary-age children
- Dependable, patient, and encouraging
- Comfortable leading activities and keeping kids engaged
- Positive team players
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and reside in Hawai‘i (or have plans to relocate)
Responsibilities
- Leading games, outdoor play, and recreation
- Planning arts, crafts, STEM, and enrichment activities
- Helping children with homework
- Encouraging teamwork, confidence, and positive behavior
- Building relationships with children and families
- Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and organized program
