About The Position

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) is seeking passionate, caring, and dedicated After School Educators to join their School Age Team. This role involves engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. The ideal candidate is passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning, bringing energy, resourcefulness, and creativity to create learning opportunities and build connections. The position will work in a kindergarten or school-age classroom, with full-day shifts during school breaks (March break, Winter break, PA Days, and Summer Programming). Hours will fluctuate within the team and fall within the program hours of 2 pm to 6 pm, based on program needs and funding.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Document children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
