About The Position

St. Andrew's Parish Parks & Playground Commission is hiring energetic, dependable counselors to help create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for children ages 5 to 12. The position is suitable for high school and college students, future teachers, recreation professionals, and others who enjoy working with children. Applicants age 15 and older are encouraged to apply. The After School Program runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Day Camp operates from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during school breaks, including teacher workdays and Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks. Hours vary based on program needs, with a maximum of 29 hours per week. Pay starts at $17.00 to $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and ability to drive agency vehicles. This is described as a rewarding seasonal position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment screenings, which may include background checks, employment eligibility verification, and post-offer drug screening. Requirements

Must be at least 15 years old.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required, or the ability to obtain it.
Darkness2Light – Stewards of Children certification is required; it can be provided in-house.
Must be dependable and enthusiastic, and able to work well as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children is preferred.
Applicants who meet age and licensing requirements may have opportunities to drive agency vehicles.
