About The Position
iCook/ iSTEAM After School is an innovative educational company that provides a fun, hands-on after-school cooking and nutrition education program for children aged K-4. The iSTEAM program focuses on hands-on and observable experiments, teaching concepts related to Engineering and Tech, Chemistry, and Science through Art. Educators come from diverse backgrounds, including nutritionists, educators, students, chefs, and parents seeking extra income.
Requirements
- Experience working with large groups of children (e.g., school setting, summer camp).
- Enthusiasm for teaching, cooking, and nutrition.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Lead after school cooking/STEAM classes for elementary students (K-4), engaging them with recipes, experiments, new foods, and diverse cuisines/cultures.
- Teach provided lesson plans on nutrition and healthy eating in a fun and engaging manner.
- Introduce children to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners, and other curriculum-based concepts.
- Purchase groceries for each class based on provided recipes (reimbursed separately).
