About The Position

Mater Private Hospital Redlands is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Nurse to work primarily across Mater Hospital Redlands as an After Hours Manager. The successful applicant will have current clinical experience with a broad knowledge of clinical nursing. The position will be offered on a casual basis. The After-Hours Nurse Manager (AHM) is responsible for the organisation and management of the hospital outside of normal working hours. By providing a clear focus for operational leadership, the AHM facilitates provision of a high standard of holistic patient/client centred care, to maximise effective management of clinical, financial and human resources within a quality and risk management framework.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) relevant to the necessary scope of practice
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience across critical care environment
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and PLS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge and experience of the facility requirements and standards
  • Prior comparable experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and report-writing skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, human resource and business skills

Nice To Haves

  • Postgraduate qualifications in nursing Critical Care ( desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and assistance to less experienced staff as required
  • Assume a leadership role acting as a role model and professional resource to staff
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with diverse groups of service partners and the wider community through effective communication and complaint management strategies
  • Communicate directly with the Patient Flow Manager through participation at meetings
  • Ensure policies, protocols and procedures are available to staff
  • Delegate activities and authority to relevant staff, commensurate with their abilities, experience, and scope of practice
