About The Position

Mater Private Hospital Redland are seeking expressions of interest from internal Registered/Clinical Nurses to step up into an After Hours Manager in a maximum term contract part time position – 24 hours per week. Commencement of this position will be from October through to February 2027. This position would suit a highly skilled Registered/Clinical Nurse, who is ready to take the step in their career. This role requires a high attention to detail and someone who is comfortable in leading and managing the daily operation within a team.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) relevant to the necessary scope of practice
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience across critical care environment
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and PLS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge and experience of the facility requirements and standards
  • Prior comparable experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and report-writing skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, human resource and business skills

  • Postgraduate qualifications in nursing Critical Care

Responsibilities

  • The After Hours Nurse Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective leadership and management of the facility after business hours.
  • The After Hours Manager is an essential leadership role will be responsible to ensure collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, business management and leadership outside of normal hours.
  • Provide advice and assistance to less experienced staff as required
  • Assume a leadership role acting as a role model and professional resource to staff
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with diverse groups of service partners and the wider community through effective communication and complaint management strategies
  • Communicate directly with the Patient Flow Manager through participation at meetings
  • Ensure policies, protocols and procedures are available to staff
  • Delegate activities and authority to relevant staff, commensurate with their abilities, experience, and scope of practice
