About The Position

The Department of Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law at Regis University is seeking an affiliate faculty member to teach one lower-division and one upper-division course in Philosophy. The first course, PL 250: Introduction to Philosophy, will be taught in the 7-week 2 term of fall 2026 (October 19 to December 6, 2026) as an asynchronous, online course. This course aims to convey a sense of what philosophy has been and engage students in philosophical reflection on perennial and contemporary issues, emphasizing knowledge, freedom, value, and society. The second course, PL 476: Web of Life (Environmental Ethics), will be taught in the 7-week 1 term of spring 2027 (January 11 to February 28, 2027) as an asynchronous, online course. This course investigates environmental ethical problems and draws on ethical theories to develop compassionate and sustainable solutions. It is cross-listed as HU 477.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Philosophy or related field.

Responsibilities

  • For traditional, in-person courses, the requirements are to meet in-person with the class twice when scheduled and hold 1 hour of office hours per week.
  • Faculty will participate in designing their own course (in consultation with the chair of the department).
  • For post-traditional, remote courses, the requirements are to deliver recorded virtual lectures, actively engage with student posts on the discussion board, respond to student questions, and provide feedback and grade assignments.
  • Faculty hold 1 ½ virtual office hours per week.
