About The Position

The Department of Biology seeks affiliate faculty who can teach lectures and laboratory classes in a variety of biology areas. Teaching assignments depend on departmental needs, applicant qualifications, budget, and enrollment. Affiliate faculty are part-time employees hired on a per-credit-hour basis to teach specific classes as needed, on a semester-by-semester basis. They are not eligible for coverage under the University’s benefits program, though this position is eligible for workers’ compensation and provides one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.

Duties include preparing and teaching lectures and/or laboratories, maintaining complete and accurate grade records, evaluating student performance, and using class time appropriately. Faculty must meet assigned classes in accordance with University, College, and Department policies; teach in line with the regular course syllabus and its learning objectives, including Department course coordination policies when applicable; and be available to students face-to-face or electronically to provide additional academic support as appropriate. The schedule depends on the course schedule. Pay is $3,225 per course contract.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
