AEU Program Planner

City of New York•New York, NY
•$75,777 - $111,552

About The Position

The Automated Enforcement Unit (AEU), part of the NYC Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Operations, manages red light, bus lane, speed, and Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) automated enforcement programs. Automated enforcement supports the Mayor’s Vision Zero initiative, and recent legislative changes require rapid program expansion and modernization. AEU is seeking two City Planners II to help coordinate this growth, ensure planning is data-driven, and align program expansion with best practices. Planners will develop strategies for individual enforcement programs and future expansions; coordinate with contractors, the MTA, and DOT teams; analyze crashes and safety risks to inform camera siting; and work across DOT units to integrate infrastructure and relevant datasets into planning and implementation. They will also support internal tracking and ad hoc projects, and research technologies and best practices to support pilots, evaluations, and grant applications. Candidates must be permanently serving in the title of City Planner or reachable on the open-competitive civil service list for City Planner, Exam #1112. The position is associated with the City Planner title and its listed qualifications.
