About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises specializes in next-generation high-speed flight systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and entry, descent & landing technologies. Our core competencies include conducting preliminary design of aerospace concepts, performing detailed multidisciplinary engineering analysis, developing commercial aerospace software, prototyping spacecraft hardware components, and conducting market and economic research within the aerospace industry. We serve clients from the Department of Defense, NASA, and the commercial space sector. SpaceWorks is seeking a college student intern for the Fall 2026 (end of August - mid November, dates flexible) to support our software development team. Given the nature of our work, US Person status is required. The position is located 100% onsite at our Atlanta, GA office and is a seasonal, full-time (hourly) position. Application will close at 5pm on May 8th.

Requirements

  • College student pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in aerospace engineering, or a related field with interest in coding
  • Proficient in at least 1 programming languages: Rust, Java, Python, C/C++
  • Available 40 hours per week for Fall 2026 (August - November)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio
  • Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with the basic principles of version control systems
  • Engineering Fundamentals: Applies first-principles to simplify systems and perform rough sizing using hand calculations
  • MUST be able to work in-person for the duration of the internship located in Atlanta, GA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for a minor in computer science
  • Involvement / leadership in organizations on campus, coding passion projects, and strong GPA
  • Past relevant internship experience preferred
  • Preferred graduation date within 2026 or 2027

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering design and analysis software for aerospace vehicle systems (primarily relating to the propulsion, trajectory, and aerodynamics disciplines)
  • Support developments on our commercial off the shelf (COTS) products and custom code development for internal and external customers
  • Document technical progress and contribute to technical reports
