About The Position

The Aerospace Quality Inspector ensures that all components, assemblies, and processes meet stringent regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards. This role is critical in maintaining the safety and airworthiness of aviation products through meticulous physical inspection, documentation review, and adherence to established Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-5 years of quality inspection experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or Associates Degree in Nondestructive Testing (NDT) or Quality Technology preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: An uncompromising focus on precision and accuracy in a high-stakes environment.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to identify subtle patterns in defects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written reporting skills to interface with engineering, production, and regulatory auditors.
  • Digital Literacy: Experience with ERP/MRP software and digital QMS platforms for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Fine motor skills for handling delicate aerospace components.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20 (near vision and color perception are often required for specific inspection types).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or specialized certifications (e.g., Level II NDT) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Physical Inspection: Perform detailed visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished aerospace assemblies.
  • Precision Measurement: Utilize advanced metrology tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
  • Documentation & Traceability: Review, prepare, and verify First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102, material certifications, and test reports to ensure 100% traceability. Reviewing, verifying, and issuing FAA Form 8130-3 in compliance with FAA regulations. Ensures all parts, components, and documentation meet airworthiness, traceability, and regulatory requirements prior to certification
  • Compliance: Audit production processes to ensure adherence to AS9100 standards, FAA regulations, and internal Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials. Initiate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and participate in Corrective Action Board (CAB) reviews.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Conduct incoming inspections of supplier-provided parts and final "buy-off" inspections prior to delivery to the customer.
  • Inspection Plans: Prepare inspection plans for use in subsequent inspections, using data obtained from blueprints, customer specifications, and procurement documentation.
  • Conformity Inspections: Perform conformity inspections for newly designed parts to ensure they meetdesign and specification requirements
  • General duties as required.
