About The Position

Under general supervision and reporting to Quality Management in Quality Operations, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing visual inspection operations including In-process, Final Inspection, and FAI’s as appropriate. The Quality Inspector must be familiar with hand tools and inspection under magnification. The Quality Inspector will also assist in verification of test data and all other applicable data concerning components, and associated documentation and other duties identified by cognizant management. Requirements

  • Familiarity with hand tools and inspection under magnification.
  • Experienced quality individual in dimensional inspection of aerospace machined components.
  • Experience in performing FAI’s – AS9102.
  • Experience with hand measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of CMM Inspection process.
  • Knowledge and experience in GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Knowledge and experience with blueprint interpretation.
  • MS Outlook, and EXCEL experience.
  • Experience with hand measurement gages, conduct conventional inspection to engineering requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
  • Ability to handle complex situations and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to press and analyze technical and business information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to interact via telephone, email with co-workers.
  • Ability to remain seated for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Fluent English – reading and writing is required.

  • Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment.

  • Near Vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 8 (95% or Jaeger #2 at 12 inches).
  • Far vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 4 (76%) or Snellen Chart 20/50.
  • Color Perception – 6 of 9 Orthorater plates.
  • US or International citizenship or permanent residence status required depending on work location.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid Auto Insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior practical experience and implementation of Quality inspection tools and equipment.
  • Experience in RCCA, and problem solving.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a quality inspector or technician.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility.
  • 3+ years’ experience in inspection duties, FAI’s GD&T, and b/p interpretation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspection operations including In-process, Final Inspection, and FAI’s as appropriate.
  • Assist in verification of test data and all other applicable data concerning components, and associated documentation.
  • Perform final inspection and receiving inspection (Which includes dimensional, visual inspection, surface finish, and assembly inspection).
  • Reads, interprets, and utilizes Quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation.
  • Process warehouse materials.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines/procedures to perform the functions of the job.
  • Support positive corrective actions and identification of root cause.
  • Other duties as assigned.
