About The Position

As an Aerospace Program Manager and AS9100 / ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, you will serve as a technical authority and certification decision-maker within the Aerospace sector, overseeing auditing and management of certification and assessment services across OEM and supply chain organizations with emphasis on development and delivery of AS9100 certification, as well as development of other vertical certification services and assessment services in Aerospace and Industrial markets. You will work closely with scheduling and project management to plan and audits (2nd and 3rd party) as required, lead audit teams, and ensure consistent application of DEKRA Certification, Inc. rules and accreditation requirements. In this role, you will act as a key interface between operations, accreditation bodies, and industry stakeholders, contributing to strategic growth, technical excellence, and market development. You will collaborate closely with scheduling, project management, and commercial teams to align operational delivery with business objectives. DEKRA Certification, Inc.’s goal is to seek consensus on solutions while maintaining a focus on compliance.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in AS9100 / ISO 9001 certification and third-party auditing environments
  • Demonstrated experience in certification decision-making, technical review, or equivalent responsibility
  • Leadership experience in auditor development, qualification, mentoring and team coordination
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering in the quality management systems industry preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in quality systems management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years QM – experience

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a subject matter expert for aerospace certification programs within the organization
  • Acts as Certification Decision Authority for AS9100 / ISO 9001 programs, reviewing audit documentation and making final certification decisions in accordance with accreditation and internal requirements
  • Oversees the delivery and management of certification and assessment services in the Aerospace market (both OEM and supply chain), with emphasis on development of AS9100 certification, as well as the development of other vertical certification services and assessment services in the Aerospace market.
  • Identifies qualification needs, plans and delivers training programs for auditors and administrative staff, ensuring continuous competence development, in coordination with team members.
  • Leads the monitoring of full-time auditors and freelance auditors in agreement with the project management team (minimum once every three years per auditor).
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to auditors on complex certification, compliance, and regulatory matters
  • Contributes to and supports the appointment and authorization of external auditors.
  • Contributes to and supports the selection and recruitment of auditors and administrative staff.
  • Maintains and extends accreditations and recognitions in relevant market segments.
  • Develops market-specific presentations and supports acquisition of new clients in collaboration with Marketing and Sales.
  • Works closely with the VP of Sales to support the business development activities. This includes following the trends in the AS market, providing technical content (white papers), speaking at important events (webinars, conferences), representing DEKRA at key AS Associations meetings, and supporting other marketing activities planned in this sector.
  • Performs production/operations monitoring and supports implementation of DEKRA Certification rules.
  • Implements accreditation requirements, including commissioning/authorization of auditors and review of audit records.
  • Creates, adapts, and updates sector-specific processes, procedures, and work instructions within the team.
  • Performs industry-specific QM auditor trainings and Certification Official duties.
  • Conducts audits (2nd and 3rd party) as required to sector-specific (AS91x0) and core standards (ISO9001).
  • Develops audit scope and audit plans, manages audit team activities, and prepares audit reports for clients utilizing analytical skills, technical knowledge, and excellent written communication skills.
  • Uses polished, professional presentation skills while meeting with clients to present DEKRA’s findings; works with clients to assess needs and meet DEKRA Certification, Inc. safety, service, and customer satisfaction standards.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy, managing priorities effectively with demonstrated follow-through; maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and peers; analyzes complex regulatory requirements and makes sound determinations of the proper course of action.
