About The Position

PPG's Aerospace Business is seeking a Process Engineer to support aerospace rework and repair operations in Sylmar, CA. This role is focused on defining and sustaining standardized processes for intake, inspection, rework/repair, documentation, training, and release of repaired hardware to ensure components are returned in a serviceable and compliant condition for downstream overhaul or use. This is an onsite position that will work out of our Sylmar, CA office.

Requirements

  • Only US Citizens, Green card holders, political asylees, or refugees are eligible to apply.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, repair/rework, overhaul, or other regulated industrial environments.
  • Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Ability to read and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Familiarity with inspection methods, MRB/nonconformance handling, and quality systems in a regulated environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, military, overhaul/repair, or AS9100-regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, FAA, DoD, or customer-specific quality requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain standardized workflows for intake, inspection, rework/repair, and release to service.
  • Develop and revise work instructions, repair procedures, visual aids, and process documentation to support safe, repeatable repair execution.
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and approved repair technical data to support standardized rework and repair methods.
  • Support development of repair methods or schemes when standard processes are not sufficient.
  • Train technicians on repair and inspection processes and support deployment of standardized methods across sites.
  • Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in repair quality, turnaround time, and repeatability.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations on inspection criteria, MRB/nonconformance support, traceability, and configuration control.
  • Travel (up to 20%) to support training and deployment of standardized rework and repair processes across sites.
