About The Position

Honeycomb Company of America (HCOA) is seeking a Manufacturing Process Operator to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks within the aerospace manufacturing process, with training provided for essential duties. The operator will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of correct products and services to internal customers, adhering to daily schedules, and maintaining meticulous documentation and traceability throughout the manufacturing process. Key responsibilities include performing layout work, measuring, identifying hole sizes, and preparing parts for assembly. The role also involves assembling metal and composite aerospace assemblies, operating machinery such as autoclaves and anodize lines, and performing visual inspections. Additionally, the operator will be involved in material picking, laying up and bagging composite structures, operating various shop equipment, applying coatings, and performing preventative maintenance. Collaboration with leadership and engineering on new process development, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining a clean work area are also crucial aspects of this position. Basic computer skills are required, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and understand technical data to include engineering drawings, blueprints, and mylar.
  • Ability to use precision calibrated measurement tools including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, pins, gauges, etc.
  • Ability to perform close tolerance drilling to prepare for fastener installation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
  • If required possess the ability to pass the Defense National Agency Check IAW DoDD 5200.2
  • Ability to read & write in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Previous experience with any processes or equipment outlined in "Essential Duties and Responsibilities" section.

Responsibilities

  • Provide their internal customers with correct products and services, on time.
  • Work to daily department schedules.
  • Keep work orders and associated documentation with each part throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Retain part traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Keep Cetec ERP order location data current.
  • Perform layout work, measuring, hole size identification, and hole location of all parts in preparation for assembly.
  • Identify various types of fasteners to ensure proper installation and use.
  • Assemble metal and composite aerospace assemblies with fasteners and/or adhesives.
  • Perform work in accordance with the engineering instructions.
  • Load and unload components and tooling into an autoclave.
  • Process parts through an anodize line in accordance with work order specification.
  • Visually inspect parts & assemblies post processing to ensure conformance to work order specification.
  • Sand, measure, and cut metal to work order specification.
  • Use machinery to expand honeycomb core material to work order specification.
  • Responsible for ensuring materials are picked accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Plan and monitor picking activities based on MRP and Cetec reports and work schedules.
  • Notify production of incomplete or partial kits and follows up as necessary.
  • Layup and bagging of composite or metal to metal laminate structures in accordance with work order specification.
  • Operate a forklift, overhead hoist, hydraulic press, CNC or manual milling machine, heat treat oven, autoclave, pin routers, manual routers, powered shear, brake press, standard mechanics tools, and pneumatic powered hand tools as required to complete work as outlined in work order specification.
  • Apply organic coatings (adhesives, adhesive primers, paints, and paint primers) with HVLP spray equipment.
  • Apply chemical conversion coatings as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with leadership and engineering on developing new processes.
  • Adhere to packaging, preservation, handling, and safety standards and policies.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and free from Foreign Object Debris (FOD).
  • Work with other employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • All other duties as assigned.
