About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs in Information Technology, Engineering & Analysis, Test & Evaluation, and Training. The Aerospace Engineer supports aerospace engineering activities involving flight control system development, aircraft modeling and simulation, flight dynamics analysis, and ground and flight testing.

The role contributes to the design, development, integration, and testing of aircraft flight control systems and autopilots. It also involves developing, integrating, and validating models of aircraft flight dynamics and related subsystems, and supporting qualification testing of aircraft avionics, sensors, and flight control systems in laboratory, ground, and flight environments.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance after hiring.
• U.S. citizenship, required for obtaining or holding a U.S. security clearance.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.
• 1–2 years of professional experience related to Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with MATLAB and MATLAB scripting.
• Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
• Knowledge of sound engineering practices, which may include requirement tracking, configuration control, technical communication, and/or the peer review process.

Responsibilities

• Perform aerospace engineering in support of flight control system development, aircraft modeling and simulation, aircraft flight dynamics analysis, and ground and flight test support.
• Support the design, development, integration, and testing of aircraft flight control systems and autopilots.
• Develop, integrate, and validate models of aircraft flight dynamics and subsystems, including payloads, engines, transmissions, flight control components, and sensors.
• Support laboratory, ground, and flight qualification testing of aircraft avionics, sensors, and flight control systems.
