Aerospace Corrosion Engineer

Booz Allen HamiltonArlington, VA

About The Position

This opportunity involves combining technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact on the design, development, and sustainment of aerospace systems. The role focuses on leading corrosion engineering activities on stealth aircraft platforms, requiring an understanding of customer environments and the ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications for customer-focused engineering solutions. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and evolving these systems with advanced technology solutions, while also broadening their skillset into aircraft development, sustainment, and corrosion portfolio development. The position merges technical engineering activities such as corrosion engineering and digital engineering to create comprehensive corrosion management, prevention, and control solutions that improve client mission outcomes within the defense industry.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working in defense engineering, sustainment, or maintenance organization working as a corrosion engineer
  • Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, such as galvanic, pitting, environmental, or stress corrosion cracking, and the implementation of corrosion prevention and control programs
  • Knowledge of aircraft and defense corrosion standards, including airworthiness
  • Ability to analyze corrosion data, findings, trends, and recommendations within a complex aircraft enterprise to develop a portfolio approach in corrosion prevention and control
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Corrosion Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience working as an aerospace corrosion engineer particularly in mixed‑material, low‑observable aircraft structures
  • Experience with corrosion‑related databases, analysis pipelines, or dashboards
  • Experience developing and implementing corrosion prevention and control programs (CPCP) that meet regulatory requirements
  • Ability to use Power BI or other data evaluation tools and methods
  • Master's degree in Corrosion Engineering or a Corrosion-related field
  • Association of Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) in Corrosion Certification
