About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Aerodynamic Test Capability Design Manager to join our Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team in Tukwila, WA. This position will manage teams in the Aero Test capability within BT&E. The Aerodynamic Test organization conducts testing at numerous wind tunnels, designs test hardware, and develops methods for test measurements, flow visualization, and data reporting.

Requirements

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”

Nice To Haves

  • An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience with aerodynamics and/or experimental hardware design
  • Experience in Test and Evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing and presenting presentations to executive leadership

Responsibilities

  • Manages employees performing engineering design and technical activities in the areas of Test and Evaluation Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans for design and fabrication of wind tunnel models and associated hardware, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees
