About The Position

The Aerial Lineman builds and maintains aerial telephone systems, which may include aerial and underground facilities. The role involves field work on communications and utility infrastructure, including new construction and service upgrades. The employee works outdoors in all types of weather, may need to travel away from home, and must be available for emergency outages. The position also includes operating heavy equipment, maintaining tools and equipment, and training and mentoring Aerial Groundmen.

Requirements

Minimum of two years’ experience as an Aerial Groundman is preferred.
Thorough understanding of aerial utility installation, safety regulations, and work methods associated with aerial line work.
Valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated field experience working with aerial crews.
Thorough knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance, aerial safety codes and practices, and work methods associated with aerial line work.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to learn.
Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.

Nice To Haves

Class A CDL preferred.
A minimum of two years’ experience as an Aerial Groundman is preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and initiate projects.
Interact with customers, utility owners, and governmental officials.
Establish and comply with OSHA and customer safety requirements.
Assist with construction of new aerial and underground services and service upgrades.
Train and mentor Aerial Groundmen.
Trim trees or clear routes.
Use and care for specialized hand tools and required equipment.
Operate heavy equipment, including digger and bucket trucks.
Maintain required equipment and tools.
Follow company, manufacturer, and industry safety procedures and attend mandatory safety meetings.
