Position is that of a Test Engineer/Director responsible for the integration and testing of weapons systems aboard new construction AEGIS ships. Provides AEGIS Combat System operations and testing expertise in support of new construction naval vessels, with emphasis on the testing and evaluation of the AEGIS Weapon System and all connecting system interfaces. Active involvement and supervision in the scheduling, preparation, performance and functional evaluation of weapon system testing, as well as support system readiness and availability. Schedules, coordinates and ensures the availability of Special Test Equipment for testing in all warfare areas. Review test procedures, coordinate support services to perform tests, document results in the form of written reports such as Final Test Reports or other formats mandated by the government representatives. Provide guidance and training to ship's force and government customer personnel in establishing operational testing procedures and techniques. Guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Effective communications with all levels of management within the Navy and with outside activities, both government personnel and contractors will be required for successful coordination of each project's testing cycle. Analyze weapon system failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with shipboard operations, and procedures.
  • Will maintain daily local customer communications and relations.
  • Must have ability to anticipate, identify, mitigate and solve problems and challenges relating to critical path production and testing before reaching a critical point.
  • Experience in the functional testing and operations of the AEGIS Weapon System, to include various AEGIS Baseline configurations.
  • Graduate of formal Navy school incorporating either the operation or maintenance of AEGIS related systems.
  • Ability to participate in Sea Trial activities such as Pre-Trial Assessments, Trial Card writing, act as a counterpart with NAVY Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), conduct Trial Card screening, testing and open/inspections of equipment.
  • Must be physically able to climb vertical and inclined ladders in a ship production environment.
  • Strong personal computing skills to include experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of AEGIS Weapon System operations or maintenance experience in a field support environment.
  • Prior Naval AEGIS CIC Combat Systems Coordinator, Systems Test Officer, Combat Systems Maintenance Manager, CIC Watch Officer, or Training Supervisor experience.
  • Prior experience accomplishing support tasks within a naval shipyard environment.
  • Thorough understanding of AEGIS Weapon System test practices to include digital, mechanical, microwave radiation, alignment and collimation.
