About The Position

Parsons is looking for an AEGIS Based Defense Aegis System Equipped Vessel Senior Systems Engineer to join their team. This role involves being part of a team of federal engineers, active-duty Naval Officers, and contract staff focused on delivering missile defense capability to the Fleet. The position supports new construction shipbuilding programs and ensures the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of engineering documentation. The engineer will also prepare and present status updates, reports, and technical briefings to stakeholders and the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) customer. A key responsibility is to rapidly assess the scope of construction-impacting technical issues, expedite communication to the appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs) and program office representatives for resolution, and clearly communicate the scope, status, and potential impact of these issues to ensure construction schedule impacts are understood by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Japan shipbuilder teams. The role also involves identifying factors that hinder or slow down the approval of technical issues and resolutions.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship with Active Secret Clearance
  • Master’s Degree in STEM
  • 12+ years of experience
  • Mastery of MS Office suite
  • Familiarity with collaborative tools such as Jira, Confluence or Teams
  • Aegis Weapon System Experience
  • Minimum of three years supporting new construction shipbuilding programs, with proven project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of USN ship installation requirements and processes.

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Prior experience with Weapons Systems Deployment
  • Experience with Missile Systems Engineering
  • Technical experience in one of the following areas: Fleet operations, systems engineering, missile systems, Aegis Qualifications, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Support new construction shipbuilding programs.
  • Ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of engineering documentation (requirements, design modifications, etc.).
  • Support vessel construction, commissioning, testing, and final handover.
  • Prepare and present platform product status updates, reports, and technical briefings to stakeholders and Foreign Military Sale (FMS) customer.
  • Rapidly assess the scope of construction-impacting technical issues and expedite communication of the issue to the appropriate cognizant SME and program office representative to drive resolution.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate the scope, status, and potential impact of the technical issue to ensure construction schedule impacts are understood by the MDA and Japan shipbuilder teams.
  • Identify areas that slow down or do not support acceleration of approvals of technical issues and resolutions.
