About The Position

AECOM Advisory is seeking talented management consultants to join their US East Region team. This Global Business Line focuses on providing management consulting services to clients in the infrastructure, built environment, and community vibrancy sectors. They serve national governments, regulatory entities, city agencies, utilities, transit agencies, infrastructure operators, and investors. The team comprises business analysts, economists, commercial strategists, technology architects, and human capital and change management practitioners. AECOM Advisory aims to help clients develop strategy, improve operational performance, and integrate digital systems. This role is a seller-doer position, requiring business development, engagement delivery oversight, and practice development for the State and Local Government sector.

Requirements

  • BS/BA +12 years of related experience with at least 4 years of experience acting in a leadership or practice-building capacity or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education.
  • Proven track record in a seller-doer role in a management consulting firm.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Client-service mindset and ability to act as a trusted adviser to clients.
  • Ability to create a culture of a high-tempo, high-context client-facing environment, with the ability to maintain poise, maturity, and work well under pressure.
  • Able to be self-directed, anticipatory, and a collegial team-player who can work across a devolved-leadership and highly-matrixed consulting organization.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and narrative development skills, with the ability to summarize and convey key insights to C-suite and senior management audiences.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and willingness to have an informed point-of-view, grounded in an interest in enterprise challenges (people, process, technology) and expert understanding of client industries and their context.
  • Domain expertise across multiple of the following areas: Corporate or enterprise strategy, market analysis and target operating model design. Organizational assessment, business transformation and performance improvement, Corporate finance, valuations, M&A, divestitures, divestments and privatizations, Technology-led business transformation.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, or other Master’s degree in Operational Research, Management, Management Science, Finance, Economics, Systems Engineering and/or related fields.
  • At least 12 years of management consulting and/or related industry experience.
  • Capital projects advisory, including project finance and/or infrastructure investment appraisal, capital improvement planning, asset management, portfolio strategy.
  • Sustainability, climate change, net zero and ESG strategies and frameworks incl. non-financial valuation methodologies.
  • Economic development, industrial policy and market transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Driving business development, overseeing engagement delivery, and leading practice development for the State and Local Government sector.
  • Being present in industry conversations and professional networks to identify and originate business development opportunities.
  • Leveraging industry expertise and commercial acumen to proactively target, define, and shape business development campaigns.
  • Overseeing all aspects of proposal responses as Capture Manager, including narrative development, coordinating technical solutions, pricing, team definition, subcontractor engagement, internal risk review, and compliance procedures.
  • Overseeing multiple delivery teams comprised of 5-8 Consultants and Senior Consultants across multiple and inter-dependent workstreams.
  • Providing leadership for client interactions on delivery progress and insight validation, including with C-suite clients and senior management stakeholders.
  • Managing inputs from Partners and technical experts to flag key delivery choices, considerations, and risks.
  • Architecting analytical workstreams and strategically guiding engagement teams.
  • Providing timely quality assurance and control over scope, assumptions, analyses, and insights.
  • Overseeing narrative formulation and deliverable production to meet client expectations and firm standards.
  • Driving practice development with conducting performance appraisals, FP&A, operational performance improvement, thought leadership, and IP generation.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff on developing core consulting skills.
