About The Position

The Advisor, Stakeholder Engagement will provide advice, support and assistance to the Director, Stakeholder Engagement in the management of relationships with key community partners including industry players, business improvement areas (BIAs), local ward councillors, municipal and provincial governments, agencies, boards, and corporations. This position facilitates the resolution of key stakeholder requests/issues that involve multiple functional teams. This role will also monitor the agendas for City Council on behalf of Toronto Parking Authority and represent Toronto Parking Authority, as appropriate, at various stakeholder meetings.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related discipline, including Political Science, Public Policy, Urban Planning or Environmental Studies, or a combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years related experience in stakeholder or community relations/management, as well as coordination, collaboration and project management across an organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Internal candidates: Employees must have at least one (1) year of continuous service in their current role to be eligible for application.

Nice To Haves

  • Broad knowledge in the field of land use planning, transportation planning and mobility is an asset.
  • Public sector / government experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Engage Toronto Parking Authority’s key stakeholders, including industry players, BIAs, municipal and provincial governments, and associated agencies, boards, and corporations.
  • Build and cultivate relationships, participate in discussions, and advance organizational interests.
  • Liaise and manage relationships with local councillors and their staff on Toronto Parking Authority matters.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and present to local communities and elected officials on updates, trends, and priorities.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of operations and exercise political acuity when managing sensitive and contentious issues.
  • Provide advice, recommendations, operational support, and professional judgment on complex and contentious issues to senior leadership.
  • Identify and analyze City Council directions and assess organizational impacts; develop appropriate responses, including formal reports.
  • Make policy and program recommendations aligned with strategic goals.
  • Prepare and present briefing notes, reports, presentations, issue analyses, and risk assessments on a wide range of matters.
  • Monitor and review City Council agendas and brief senior management on key and controversial items.
  • Manage Council-related agenda items, coordinate responses from staff, and track follow-ups and outstanding actions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to review issues, develop solutions, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Partner with internal teams to understand customer perspectives and inform external messaging.
  • Support Marketing by contributing community relations content, presentations, and speaking notes.
  • Support Business Development by identifying risks, councillor concerns, and opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of updates and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
