About The Position

This role involves the development, planning, and coordination of biomedical device integration (BMDI) initiatives. This includes managing systems like anesthesia machines, vital sign machines, infusion pumps, and RTLS, and ensuring their communication with EMR, end-user devices, and other systems. The position supports the design and architecture of integration and interoperability between various clinical and financial systems, focusing on data exchange processes. It also provides clinical and workflow expertise for integration and interoperability issues in design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
  • Deep knowledge of biomedical device hardware and the clinical workflows in which it is utilized across all service lines, enabling effective identification, integration, and interoperability.
  • Proven expertise providing implementation planning guidance, including network connectivity, power requirements, and mounting/placement needs.
  • Experience evaluating and advising on systems software, hardware selection, and infrastructure design; partners with EDS to develop integrations with enterprise clinical information systems and the broader clinical community’s varied systems.
  • Skilled in gathering customer requirements; analyzing and documenting current- and future-state workflows; and recommending improvements related to biomedical equipment operation and integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate installation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, configuration, performance optimization, and testing of hardware, software, and networks used for biomedical device integration.
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead discussions with key stakeholders (Project Managers, Clinical, Technical, and Executive leaders) and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking problem solver who proactively surfaces pertinent issues and asks probing questions to drive clarity and outcomes.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical interoperability standards and technologies, as well as applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic advice and guidance to the Product Services & Management function.
  • Participates in design discussions across all projects to ensure common vocabularies and other data representations in all systems will support integration requirements for standard data exchange.
  • Collaborates with application teams to validate design decisions and ensuring an enterprise design.
  • Develops strategic direction and oversight in creating clinical, semantic, and technical requirements for interoperability.
  • Ensures the deployment of applications, in collaboration with ancillary teams, which adhere to internal and external vocabulary and terminology standards for health information exchange.
  • Participates in the selection of vendor and tools for interoperability and integration engine.
  • Determines requirements of tools for interoperability and integration engine within the context of evolving system capabilities in the interoperability space for assigned technical function or process.
  • Provides analytical and consultative expertise in architecting integration.
  • Utilizes available tools, collaborates with clinical and quality groups to understand clinical workflow requirements and design appropriate and efficient interoperability and integration designs.
  • Serves as a resource to management; utilizes clinical, technical, and analytical skills in evaluating proposed projects and making recommendations.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Develops and delivers education and training for super users, clinical staff, CE staff, and BMDI Support Analysts on technologies as they relate to patient care workflows and operational processes.
  • Facilitates discussions with key stakeholders (Project Managers, Clinical, Technical, and Executive leaders) and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical interoperability standards and technologies, as well as applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
