We are currently seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team as an Advisor in the Innovation & Emerging Opportunities department. In this role, you will be responsible for quantitative and qualitative policy analysis, engaging with industry stakeholders and supporting the development of policy options and implementation of pilot projects to facilitate innovation in the energy sector.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, engineering, commerce, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ analytical experience in the energy industry, public policy, regulatory policy, consulting, public administration or a related field
  • Experience in data analysis and development of analytical models to provide insight into complex policy options
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and techniques, and experience in drafting, organizing and editing comprehensive, complex and formal reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment where different opinions and perspectives have to be managed, negotiated and resolved diplomatically
  • Highly developed presentation, facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in delivering reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders and the general public based on research and analysis

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree or professional designation in economics, engineering, policy analysis, business analytics or a related discipline would be an asset
  • Experience working within a regulated industry, regulatory body and/or public utility is preferred
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s electricity sector is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support comprehensive policy research, exploring various perspectives and implications for natural gas and electricity sectors
  • Support data management and modeling efforts, focusing on energy related topics such as pricing, incentive rate-setting, innovation and industry dynamics
  • Prepare reports, presentation and briefing materials for senior staff and/or executives
  • Support stakeholder consultations, soliciting and summarizing stakeholder feedback and draft/review materials and reports related to consultations for OEB executive leadership
  • Communicate analysis and results through briefings and reports for OEB executive leadership and stakeholder feedback
  • Monitor and analyze the energy and regulatory policy environment to identify trends and emerging issues through online research
  • Provide project support and administration to faciliate decision-making and policy development
