Advisor - Generative Design & Optimization, Biotherapeutics

Eli Lilly and Company•San Diego, CA
•$168,000 - $268,400•Onsite

About The Position

Lilly’s Biotechnology Discovery Research organization is expanding computational capabilities at the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego to build an integrated de novo design platform for therapeutic antibodies and other biotherapeutics. The platform brings together AI/ML, protein engineering, automation, structural biology, and high-throughput experimentation to generate, rank, and optimize molecules, with experimental validation informing a continuous learning cycle. The program has dedicated capacity on LillyPod, a 1,016-GPU NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra SuperPOD. This hands-on research role contributes to Lilly’s de novo design pipeline. Building on generative protein foundation models, the Advisor implements, tests, and improves conditioning, sampling, optimization, and scoring methods that make generative capabilities a reliable design engine for antibody and VHH discovery. The role owns key technical problems, contributes new ideas, and translates AI advances into measurable impact on therapeutic discovery. The Advisor works with multidisciplinary computational and experimental teams and supports scientific communication and validation activities.
