About The Position

The Advisor, Customer Intelligence & Operations (Automation Business Architect) supports the design, analysis, and implementation of automation solutions within Oriental’s back‑office operations. This role focuses on executing and maintaining automation initiatives, contributing to operational efficiency while following established standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks. The Advisor works under the guidance of the Operational Design & Automation Manager and collaborates with Business Architects, IT, and Operations teams to implement automation solutions aligned with business needs and institutional policies. This position will be working hybrid and is based in San Juan, PR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or related field required.
  • Three (3+) years of experience in automation, process optimization, business architecture, or related roles required.
  • Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Experience in programming languages: C++, Python, SQL Server, Reporting Services, and Integration Services, as well as, proficiency in Visual Basic and Visual Studio required.
  • Experience with automation platforms, system integrations, and process workflows required.
  • Experience with version control, coding standards, configuration best practices, and participation in peer code reviews required.
  • Experience with testing and QA practices within Agile methodologies and environments required.
  • Effective bilingual (english & spanish) written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business users required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams in structured environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US is required. This position is of indefinite duration and requires candidates to have permanent or ongoing work authorization. Employee is responsible for maintaining eligible work authorization throughout his tenure with the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to document technical workflows and support process modeling efforts using established tools highly preferred.
  • Knowledge in integrating applications via APIs preferred.
  • Familiarity in financial services or other regulated operational environments highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Apply established Life Cycle Development methodologies for automation solutions, including analysis, design support, configuration, unit testing, implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting of automation solutions and workflows under guidance.
  • Analyze user’s requirements to support automation design and process improvement initiatives.
  • Configure, maintain, and enhance existing automation workflows to ensure operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to ensure that automation solutions are implemented successfully.
  • Prepare and maintain proper technical documentation including estimate hours document for the tasks assigned, release notes and any other required documentation as per the institution policies upon the stage and requirements of the project.
  • Ensure automation deliverables meet quality standards, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and support incremental delivery of automation components within sprints.
  • Support the continuous development of Junior Automation Business Architects.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
