Ovintiv is seeking an Advisor, Commercial Negotiations focused on West Coast LNG, to join our marketing team. The primary responsibility will be identifying market diversification opportunities via high-value contracts to drive margin expansion and support overall corporate profitability. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with key areas of the company, including upstream operations, marketing, midstream, strategy, planning, exploration, and business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics or other relevant fields.
  • 10 or more years of experience in LNG, marketing, trading, or business development, with skills in negotiations, investment analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats to various audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills valuing collaboration and working with multi-disciplinary teams to reach alignment and drive execution.
  • Self-starter with superior analytical skills, including idea synthesis, data analysis and ‘big picture’ problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate LNG and new market opportunities through comprehensive commercial and financial due diligence processes.
  • Utilize financial modeling techniques to assess project economics, evaluate risks, and optimize investment decisions.
  • Negotiate complex commercial terms, sale contracts and supply agreements, manage contracts and oversee implementation and integration into existing operations.
  • Monitor global energy policies, supply, demand, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Represent the company at industry forums, conferences and networking events leveraging strong, active relationships and contacts.
