About The Position

PLNU is seeking a strategic, student-centered, and collaborative Advising Manager to lead advising operations within the Fermanian School of Business (FSB). This role supports graduate and traditional undergraduate advising initiatives while partnering closely with faculty, academic leadership, and campus teams to promote student success, retention, and a high-quality advising experience across FSB programs.

Requirements

  • Two years of administrative experience, including core competencies in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
  • Staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant
  • Ability to travel between multiple educational sites

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Preferred experience in student advising, student relationship management, or related academic experience.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to compose correspondence using proper English, grammar, punctuation, syntax, formatting, and professional etiquette
  • Demonstrated skill in working with diverse populations
  • Positive attitude, strong professional work ethic, and exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work proactively and manage projects through completion while maintaining communication with leadership

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for advising services within the Fermanian School of Business
  • Support advising operations for graduate and traditional undergraduate business programs
  • Conduct advising sessions with incoming and current graduate students to support academic planning and student success
  • Create individualized course plans aligned with student goals and program requirements
  • Monitor graduate scheduling needs and support registration planning and communication processes
  • Support graduate student retention initiatives in partnership with Student Success and academic leadership
  • Provide advising support for traditional undergraduate students and faculty advisors
  • Assist with complex advising situations, transfer planning, petitions, study abroad approvals, and independent studies
  • Manage registration waitlists and coordinate advising-related student communication efforts
  • Maintain advising documentation, reports, academic plans, and advising resources each semester
  • Generate and analyze reports related to advising activity, enrollment trends, retention, and student progress
  • Support annual catalog updates and ensure curricular changes are accurately reflected
  • Lead professional development and support advising best practices and institutional policy awareness
  • Coordinate advising-related events and student engagement initiatives including Advising Chapel
  • Manage student and faculty grievance processes with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with Records, Student Success, faculty, deans, and campus partners to support effective advising operations and student outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to improve advising services, student satisfaction, and operational effectiveness
  • Perform additional duties and special projects in support of FSB advising operations and strategic priorities
