About The Position

This position is a fixed-term role from August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with a possibility of renewal for an additional year based on funding and workload. Located in El Paso, TX, the Advise TX Career Adviser will provide essential support to students in Title One high schools, guiding them through the complex processes of college admissions, matriculation, and financial aid. The role requires the ability to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree within the last year.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with students at the high school or college level.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Experience with public speaking and preparation of presentations.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to students and families.
• Assist high school students in planning, applying, and enrolling in suitable colleges.
• Organize group sessions to encourage students and families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities.
• Advise students through one-on-one meetings, presentations, group events, and college fairs and visits.
• Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school.
• Assist in the efforts of other Advise Texas Career Advisors within the service area.
• Maintain expertise in admissions and financial-aid planning.
