About The Position

This position is a fixed-term role from August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, with a possibility of renewal for one additional year depending on funding and workload. These positions are located in the Rio Grande Valley (McAllen area). The primary purpose is to provide support to students in Title One high schools, helping them navigate the complex processes of college admissions, matriculation, and financial aid. The role requires the ability to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree within the last year.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Professional demeanor and appearance.
Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with students at the high school or college level.
Bilingual-Spanish.
Experience with public speaking and preparation of presentations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to students and families seeking assistance.
Assist high school students to plan, apply, and enroll in colleges that will serve them well.
Organize group sessions to encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply for colleges and universities.
Advise students at one-on-one meetings, presentations, group events, and college fairs and visits.
Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school.
Assist in the efforts of other Advise Texas Career Advisor(s) within the service area.
Maintain expertise in admissions and financial-aid planning.
