As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will work on real projects, be part of a collaborative culture, and receive support for growth across two full semesters. The Internship Program focuses on impact, allowing interns to contribute to meaningful work while building essential skills. It provides an environment for learning and growth for individuals curious, driven, and excited about media, entertainment, and technology. The Advertising & Partnerships division connects NBCUniversal's content portfolio to advertisers, brand partners, and consumers. This division comprises five core business areas: Ad Sales, Advertising Product & Solutions, Strategy, Enterprise Marketing & Communications, and Platform Monetization. These groups collectively aim to be the industry's most valuable partner for maximizing media effectiveness for clients. Interns may be placed in areas such as Data Science, Business Intelligence, Identity & Data Product, or Program Management.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • For Business Intelligence: comfort with qualitative & quantitative data analysis, a strategic approach to problem solving, comfort with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding data modeling, joins, and blending.
  • Experience with BI tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker).
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data analysis and pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Snowflake for data manipulation and querying.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and tools like Databricks is a plus.
  • For Project management: Understanding data privacy concepts and clean room technologies is a bonus.
  • For Project management: Currently pursuing a degree in business, communications, technology, media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • For Project management: Interest in program management, product development, advertising technology, and/or media businesses.
  • For Project management: Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • For Project management: Strong communication skills and comfort working with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
  • For Project management: Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • For Project management: Willingness to learn project tracking and workflow tools such as Jira or Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quantitative modeling, optimization, AI/ML to real-world advertising challenges within the Data Science team.
  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to design and test algorithms that predict performance and maximize ROI.
  • Leverage data to empower business customers with actionable insights and drive business performance within the Business Intelligence team.
  • Contribute to developing and executing comprehensive roadmaps leveraging best-in-class technology solutions for business insights via dashboards, reports, self-service modules, and 'data as a product'.
  • Support the collection, standardization, and management of NBCUniversal’s owned and licensed data products and assets within the Identity & Data Product team.
  • Assist in enabling identity resolution, activation, monetization, and data collaboration through secure, privacy-centric methods and technologies.
  • Rotate across multiple program management leads to gain hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of advertising products, including Supply, Audiences, Measurement, Demand, and Operations.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and learn how advertising products are built, launched, and scaled at a leading media company.
