About The Position

Children's Aid runs a camp in Chappaqua, NY that operates three main programs: Summer Day Camp, Overnight Respite, and Adventure Team Building. The camp is operational year-round and encompasses 52 acres with 13 buildings that require management. The Adventure Coordinator - Maintenance Support 2026 role involves supervising adventure activities during the summer, leading the Adventure Day Program during the school year, and performing maintenance tasks throughout the academic year. Children’s Aid is dedicated to helping children in poverty succeed and thrive by providing comprehensive support to children and their families in high-needs New York City neighborhoods. The organization annually serves children and families at over 40 sites in New York and through three national program models, focusing on creating cradle-through-college pathways with an emphasis on children's health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing an adventure ropes course program.
  • At least 2 years supervising staff.
  • Experience leading adventure activities such as games, initiative, high and low ropes activities.
  • Previous landscaping, maintenance or custodial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Running the adventure program and supervising 2 or 3 adventure assistants in engaging 250 campers in climbing the high ropes course during the summer.
  • Marketing the adventure service and booking groups in the fall and spring for ropes course activities.
  • Recruiting per diem facilitators to staff the day programming.
  • Managing the ropes course supplies and materials.
  • Setting up annual training reviews for facilitators.
  • Planning and implementing programming for each day group.
  • Completing maintenance tasks during the academic year, working with the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain the camp.
  • Cleaning cabins, bathrooms, and program spaces.
  • Managing the laundry.
  • Receiving deliveries.
  • Setting up program spaces for summer and taking them down in the fall.
  • Cleaning the pools.
  • Shoveling and salting pathways.
  • Weed whacking.
  • Setting up for day programs.
